Methodology of Neuro Hypnotic Repatterning

Making the Magic Happen

While specifics may vary based on the practitioner and the client's needs, the methodology of Neuro Hypnotic Repatterning (NHR) often contains the following elements:

1. Induction and Deepening:

  •    Hypnotic induction: This is the process of leading a person into a trance or a heightened state of suggestibility. The objective is to create a focused state where the conscious mind is relaxed, allowing direct communication with the unconscious mind.
  •    Deepening techniques: Once in a trance, the depth of the trance is increased using various techniques, ensuring the individual is highly receptive.

2. Identification of Limiting Patterns:

  •    -Before making changes, the practitioner seeks to identify the specific behaviours, emotions, or beliefs that the individual wishes to alter.
  •    This involves conversational techniques and questioning to bring clarity about the underlying patterns.

3. Anchoring Optimal States:

  •    Anchoring in NLP and NHR is about associating specific triggers (like a touch or a word) with desired emotional states.
  •    By creating these "anchors", the practitioner can then trigger desired emotional states in the individual, replacing or overlaying the undesirable ones.

4. Reconditioning Emotional Responses:

  •    Here's where the "repatterning" part comes into play. Once the limiting pattern is identified, and an optimal state is anchored, the practitioner guides the individual to replace the old emotional response with the new one.
  •    This is done repetitively, ensuring the new pattern becomes the default response.

5. Reframing Perspectives:

  •    A significant part of NHR involves changing the meaning or perspective one associates with certain events or beliefs. By reframing these, one can change their emotional response and behaviour associated with them.

6. Future Pacing:

  •    This is about ensuring the changes stick. The practitioner will guide the individual to imagine themselves in future situations, using their new patterns and behaviours.
  •    This helps in reinforcing the changes and making them more permanent.

7. Strengthening the Change:

  •    Various techniques are used to ensure the new patterns are strong and resilient. This might involve more anchoring, positive reinforcement, or guided visualizations.

8. Feedback and Adjustments:

  •    After the session, feedback is sought to understand how the individual feels and if any further adjustments are needed.
  •    Based on this, further sessions might involve refining and strengthening the new patterns or working on other areas.

9. Self-Hypnosis Training:

  •    Some practitioners might teach individuals self-hypnosis techniques so they can reinforce the changes on their own.

It's important to note that the success of NHR, like any therapeutic method, can vary based on the individual, their needs, and the expertise of the practitioner. The methodology described here gives a broad overview, and practitioners might have their specific variations or additional techniques they incorporate into their sessions.
